City of Buckeye Workshop 8/19/25

Building Community in Buckeye: A Night of Creative Connection
On August 19th, I partnered with the City of Buckeye to teach Networking for Creative Writers as part of their thriving community education program. I always love these city-hosted workshops—the mix of hobbyists, emerging authors, and seasoned writers creates such a warm, curious energy.
During our time together, we covered the foundations of meaningful networking, including how to approach new connections with confidence and how to maintain relationships in a way that feels human, not forced. Participants shared stories, swapped resources, and several people even discovered they lived in the same neighborhoods or wrote in the same genres.
A few standout moments from the evening included:
-
Writers encouraging each other during mindset exercises
-
A handful of attendees forming an accountability pair on the spot
-
A lovely moment where someone realized, out loud, “I do have a network—I just didn’t know how to name it.”
Workshops like this remind me how much creativity exists in every community. Buckeye truly showed up.
